WhatsApp Pay: If you do not verify the document, the money transaction will not be done through WhatsApp

To access the payment feature of WhatsApp, a messaging platform owned by Facebook, users may soon have to go through an ‘identity verification’ process. That's what a recent report from XDA-Developers claims. According to this report, WhatsApp's latest beta update clearly indicates that users need to share their verified documents in order to use the WhatsApp Pay feature. Otherwise, this service will be unavailable to them. Incidentally, WhatsApp Pay feature was launched in India in 2018 in a trial (beta mode) way. Last year, in 2020, after getting approval from NPCI (National Payment Corporation of India), this ‘Money Transaction’ service was officially rolled out to all.

WhatsApp Pay cannot be used without document verification

Until now, for UPI-based transactions using WhatsApp Pay service, the user was only asked to verify the phone number linked to his bank account. However, a new feature has been caught in the beta version of the latest WhatsApp v2.21.22.6. Where to use this payment service, the messaging app has to submit the user ID. However, the company has not yet officially announced the new feature.

Note that UPI based apps like Google Pay, Phone Pe used in India do not ask the user to submit any other personal document except phone number. In this case, why did WhatsApp suddenly take such a conditional step? Many people think this question has arisen. According to a report released by XDA-Developers, WhatsApp's move may be limited to business account users only.

Collections and Carts feature is rolled out for WhatsApp Business Account

When it comes to business accounts, the company has rolled out a new feature called Collection to further enhance the e-commerce experience. This feature allows shoppers to shop using the categories option on WhatsApp. Simply put, business account holders can categorize their products by category. So that, instead of scrolling through the long product list, shoppers can ‘collect’ or choose their preferred product directly from the category.
