The 5G spectrum could take place in April-May 2021, said Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Telcos also demanded an extension of the 5G trial period.
Where is 5G? No one knows yet and guess the best for 2-3 years. The 5G spectrum allocation is a step towards the introduction of 5G in India and so far that has not happened. However, the spectrum allocation may be only a few months away, if the latest comments from Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw are considered, auctions could take place in April-May 2022.
The completed timeline for the auction should come from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) but the minister said estimates could be made. "But, today, our average is April-May. Previously I was measuring March. But, I think it will take ... because the consultation is complex, different ideas are coming," Vaishnaw said.
5G displays are possible in May 2022
Earlier, Vaishnaw had commented on auctions that took place in early 2022, probably in the first quarter. He also pointed out that the government plans to bring about changes in the telecommunications sector and auctions in an effort to establish India's best and most effective telecommunications laws in the world.
With the upcoming 5G auction, it is said that the government wants the spectrum to remain unchanged for several years. "So, 4G can be used for that, 5G can be used. Therefore, that is based thinking not just for a short time but like thinking for at least 5-10 years ago," Vaishnaw said.
In addition, it is said that telecom operators also want to be expanded with their 5G tests. The reason? It is closely related to a lack of technological readiness. Companies are reported to have received the most expensive current prices considering the standard size of the spectrum required for 5G applications.
