"I'm going to make Flex Engine mandatory soon," Gadkari said
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has been heard repeatedly asking questions about affordable and pollution-free bio-fuel or biofuels such as ethanol, driven cars or flex-fuel engines. This time he once again set the tone. In his words, it has become clear that the construction of Flex Engine cars is going to be mandatory in the country very soon. The main reason for launching it is that if bio-fuel is used in the car, it will save the owners money, as well as it will not spread pollution like the vehicles with combustion engine.
Due to the large scale production of sugarcane, maize and paddy in India, biofuels can be easily prepared. If flex-engine is introduced in the country, the import of fossil fuels will have to be reduced. This will reduce the pressure on the treasury. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, citing sources in western Maharashtra, said the area was a huge area for sugarcane cultivation, which could be used to convert all petrol pumps in the country into bio-fuel.
This Flex Fuel or Flexible Fuel is made by mixing ethanol with petrol. If this biofuel is introduced in the country, on the one hand, sugarcane farmers will benefit, as well as sugar mills. The Union Minister said, "There are already three ethanol pumps in Pune and the state government has been requested to introduce 100% ethanol-powered autorickshaws in western Maharashtra."
Gadkari said he had recently met with car and parts makers Kirloskar and Toyota. In a nutshell, “The company has already started manufacturing two Flex Engine cars and parts. Flex engine means that it can run on either 100% petrol or ethanol. It is made in accordance with Euro 6 regulations. I'm going to make Flex Engine mandatory soon."
At present, new records of petrol and diesel prices are being set on a daily basis. In such a situation, the Union Minister said, the people of the country should switch directly to Flex Fuel, as it will cost Rs 62 per liter, also it is environmentally friendly.
