Android phone users beware! The phone's pre-installed app is leaking your information

A team of researchers from Trinity College in Dublin has come up with bad news for Android phone users. They recently discovered that many Android devices are running their personal information elsewhere without the user's complete knowledge. The main helpers in this work are the pre-installed system applications of Android devices. All of these apps collect user personal information and provide them to OS developers and various third-party sources. Even if such applications are not opened, they continue to smuggle data at ease, which is a matter of great concern.

According to a research team from Trinity College, there is no way to avoid pre-installed various system applications on Android devices. They are also difficult to delete as they are present in the read-only memory (ROM) of the device. In that case, the only way is to root the device.

Researchers at Trinity College have conducted research on Android devices developed by multiple companies, including Samsung, Realme, Xiaomi and Huawei, and have confirmed that data can be smuggled through multiple system applications. According to researchers, all of these system apps claim some additional permissions or rights from the device. By using it, the apps pass important information to others without the user's knowledge.

According to a report published by Gizmodo, system applications are essentially stealing users' telemetry data. In addition to information about the device's unique identifier, it also contains details of which apps are already installed on the user's device. This information is also known to be acquired by various third party apps and analytics providers.

Apple, meanwhile, has been reluctant to download various third-party applications to maintain the privacy and security of its iOS platform. They have released a 31-page document against the forcible inclusion of third-party apps. Apple believes that the inclusion of applications from various third-party app stores may compromise the security of user information. So they are reluctant to keep the iOS platform open like Android.
