Elon Musk's Starlink is very fast for the Indian government, it will need a license to operate in the country

POINTS

The Indian government has asked users to stop pre-ordering Starlink services

The news comes as Elon Musk's Starlink was registered as a legal entity in India in early November

The government has also asked Starlink to stop issuing pre-orders without  a license

As internet technology grows and spreads globally, Elon Musk's Starlink aims to the most accessible internet in the world. However, it looks like the company is likely to turn a blind eye when it comes to India. Starlink, as a subsidiary of SpaceX, has registered as a business in India. This happened earlier this month. The company has started ordering before but according to the Indian government, it does not have the first permit to run the service on the country. The Indian government has also asked people to stop placing previous orders and registering fir the service.

Elon Musk Starlink requires operative work in India

India currently ranks 65th to 70th in terms of internet speed. And it has only about 41 percent of the people connected to the internet. While that is a huge number worldwide, it means that more than half of Indians do not have easy access to the internet. Elon Musk's Starlink could change all that but the Indian government wants the company to play with its old rules in order to do business in the country.

In a Reuters report, the Indian government apologized and told users to "stop booking/providing online satellite internet services in India immediately." Perhaps the government views Starlink as a disruptive technology and thus wants to control it. Although India is a profitable market for any company, the amount of red tape and corruption in India can drive a company away, and it will not be the first time and it will not be a surprise.
