The second plant will produce Volkswagen's next Trinity sedan - a model of the radical EV flagship that will launch in 2026 - and aims to match the efficiency of Tesla's new gigafactory in Gruenheide, Germany.

. The new factory site is awaiting approval by the board of directors
. Production center up to 2,50,000 units per year
Volkswagen has indicated that it would be cheaper to build a new factory than to relocate its existing location to Wolfsburg.
No cost estimates for the new facility have been announced, although Volkswagen says it intends to produce one car every ten hours at Trinity.
The planned factory site is awaiting approval from the board of directors
The planned site has been approved by Volkswagen's executive council, but has not yet received approval from the vehicle's board of trustees. The facility is estimated to produce up to 2,50,000 vehicles a year, in addition to the annual volume of 5,00,000 units of the existing Volkswagen site in Wolfsburg.
"We are negotiating with the labor council," said Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, "but economic conditions must be created." An official announcement explaining more details about the exact domain of the new industry is expected in December. "We are planning to build a green space: efficient and unlimited with existing facilities," Brandstatter said in a statement to media representatives.
Tesla has announced that its new German gigafactory factory will boast an annual production of up to 5,00,000 vehicles.
Trinity is described by Volkswagen as "the concept of the most efficient seating with a iconic design". It is planned to be one of the first Volkswagen models to be based on the company's new SSP (Scalable Systems Platform). It is said to have greater flexibility than the existing MEB model of Volkswagen, while supporting the fourth level of automotive driving technology.
The news came amid concerns of VW Group's leadership. Herbert Diess, chief executive officer, has been at loggerheads with union representatives in recent weeks, after his promise to match Tesla's productivity was seen as an indication that job losses were coming. He denies the allegations, but Reuters reports that VW's mediation council will meet soon to discuss his future at the company.
Diess has a contract to serve as CEO of VW Group until 2025, but Reuters has identified Porsche CEO Oliver Blume, Volkswagen manager Ralf Brandstatter and Marudi Duesmann of Audi - among others - as potential position, if Dies leaves.
Upcoming VW cars and Indian SUVs
Arriving in the Indian market, the VW will launch a five-seater Tiguan next month. The carmaker had previously abandoned the model and used the large three-line Tiguan Allspace, when moving to BS6 emission standards. The Tiguan will be a fuel-only SUV as the rest of the VW and uses the same 2.0-liter TSI as Allspace.
Coming in 2022, the most important launch of VW will be Vento's new location. The new Skoda Slavia model recently unveiled, the new midsize sedan will grow in size than the current Vento and is expected to share the pieces with the new Taigun - also built in the same location.
