Amazon has been fined huge sums by the European Union, Italy's antitrust regulator. It has been said that it has harmed competitors on behalf of third-party vendors who use the company's logistics services. This is a decission that is going to have an impact on the increasing scrutiny of tech giants by regulators around the world.

The EU said on Thursday that Amazon has favoured vendors in Italy. Allegedly, the company has breached the trust of those who have spent money to use its storage and delivery services.

The world's leading company is fined EUR 1.13 billion. Antitrust regulators have stepped in to take action in Europe and elsewhere against Amazon and other major technology companies for allegedly abusing their dominance to force competitors.

The European Union (EU) has been accused the tech giants Google, Fecebook, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft of substantial tax evasion, unwarranted competition, theft of media content and threats to democracy by spreading fake news.
