From February 8, 2022 to May 9, 2022, Google will block election advertisements that promote or speak out against political parties or candidates. The company has informed this news in the update of its political content policy.
Google also said it would notify affected advertisers of any policy updates.
Even before this, Google has a precedent of blocking political advertisements on its platform. The search giant stopped advertising during the Canadian federal election in 2019 and the election in Singapore in 2020.
Duterte's support in the past through social media like Facebook has helped to strengthen the base.
