Union Roads and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has long been publishing for alternative fuels for vehicles. He has already called for a "flex fuel" or ethnaol-powered engine. He also spoke about the preparation of biofuels from unusable water, sugarcane, maize etc. This time he bought a car powered by hydrogen. Gadkari claims that the car is currently being kept at an oil laboratory in Faridabad.

In fact, this move is aimed at reducing the level of environment pollution in the country as well as greening. Speaking at the Sixth National Conference on Financial Inclusion, he said, " I have plans to run bus, trucks and cars on green hydrogen made from unusable water and waste. I'm trying to make the necessary things out of the waste."

At the same time, the Union Minister said that he wanted to show the public that cars can be driven by hydrogen made from unusable water. He said, " I bought a project pilot car and show it to the common people of the country."

In early 2021, Nitin Gadkari announced that he would declare the flex fuel engine mandatory in India. He will also appeal to the country's automobile manufacturers to make cars powered by biofuels (sucha as methanol and ethanol) instead of fossil fuels, from which the amount of pollution is relatively low. Gadkari also said that in the next 3-4 months, the country's automobile companies will be instructed to make it mandatory to make cars with flex engine.
