Airtel launches satellite-based internet service in India to compete with Starlink

Recently, the demand for satellite based internet is increasing rapidly all over the world including India. It has been rumored for the past few months that Elon Musk's company Starlink will soon launch a network service called 'Starlink Internet Service' in the country to compete with the Indian Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The foreign company also started taking pre-orders for this. But most recently, the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) instructed Starlink to refund all money received for pre-ordering the service. They have even been asked to refrain from taking new pre-orders.

In fact, the government has said that Starlink's satellite-based internet service is not licensed to offer services in India. The government has also banned the public from subscribing to Elon Musk's advertising services. Which means it's about to be the most delusional time of the year, as well. Taking advantage of this opportunity, one of the most popular telecom companies in the country, Bharti Airtel (Bharti Airtel) is going to take the field to compete with Elon Musk's company.

Airtel will launch satellite broadband service

Last Wednesday, Bharti Airtel formed a joint venture with Hughes Communication India Private Limited (HCIPL) to provide satellite broadband services in India. Both companies will provide satellite and hybrid networks to business and government customers through VSAT operations. The joint venture was announced in May 2019. It has already received all the clearances from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the Department of Telecom (DoT).

By the way, HCIPL is the largest satellite service operator in India. There are more than 2 lakh VSATs under it. HCIPL provides broadband services to networking technologies, solutions and services. These include government offices, banking, aeronautics and maritime mobility, as well as medium-sized business, education and telecom backups.

Now for those who don't know, let me know what exactly is a little satellite internet. Satellite Internet provides high speed internet connection wirelessly in remote areas. Satellite Internet transfers data to the Internet using laser beams, not wires. Lower orbit satellites are used for this, which reduces the latency rate. Note that latency rate refers to the time required to transfer data from one point to another. Low latency improves the quality of online buffering, gaming and video calling.

Let me tell you a little about the benefits of satellite internet. Satellite Internet can be accessed from anywhere. Naturally it offers faster speeds than it is promised. This service is very useful especially in remote areas and in case of disaster. Not only this, in case of any disruption in the service due to disaster, it can be repaired very quickly and very easily.
